Over 64 Civilians Killed in Drone Strike on Hospital and Market in North Darfur; Power Station Hit in El Obeid

Multiple sources confirmed that more than 64 civilians were killed on Saturday in shelling that targeted a hospital and a market in the areas of Al-Zurug and Gureir in Sudan’s North Darfur state. On Sunday, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) accused the Sudanese army of carrying out the attack using a drone.

The civilian coalition “Somoud” condemned the shelling of Al-Zurug Hospital and the Gureir market, calling for an independent investigation and renewing its demand for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.

Separately, Sudan’s Electricity Company said the thermal power station in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state, was attacked by drones early Sunday, causing a fire and leading to a complete power outage.

Witnesses reported that RSF drones also struck other locations in El Obeid, including Al-Amal Hospital and El Obeid International Airport, in addition to the thermal power plant, where several buildings caught fire before civil defense teams brought the blaze under control.
