Pakistan announced it had carried out airstrikes targeting seven militant camps inside Afghan territory, describing the operation as retaliation for deadly attacks on its soil.

The Information Ministry said the strikes were based on intelligence and targeted Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan as well as affiliates of the Islamic State.

Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry condemned the strikes as a blatant violation of national sovereignty, stating that the bombardment affected civilian areas in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces.
