Pakistan and Afghanistan Agree to 48-Hour Ceasefire After Deadly Border Clashes

Islamabad and Kabul announced on Wednesday that they had agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire following deadly border clashes in recent days.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said the truce began at 6 p.m. local time, while the Taliban government confirmed it had issued strict orders to its forces to respect the ceasefire.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid stated that the halt in fighting came “at Pakistan’s request” and would remain in place as long as both sides refrain from violating the agreement.
