Pakistan said on Thursday that its participation in what it described as a “Peace Council” should not be interpreted as a step toward joining the Abraham Accords, which paved the way for the normalisation of relations with Israel.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Taher Hussain Andarabi told a news conference in Islamabad that there was no link between the Peace Council and the Abraham Accords.
He said Pakistan’s longstanding position on the Palestinian issue remains unchanged, stressing the government’s continued support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The remarks come amid media speculation over Pakistan’s involvement in international initiatives with political or security dimensions.
