Protesters Torch Nepal’s Parliament Building Amid Political Turmoil

Nepali protesters set fire to the country’s parliament building in the capital, Kathmandu, on Tuesday following the resignation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, amid widespread unrest that has left 19 dead and hundreds injured, government spokesperson Ikram Jiri reported.

“Hundreds of people stormed the parliament and set the main building ablaze,” Jiri told AFP.

The violent protests erupted across Nepal after demonstrations against the government were met with force by police, resulting in multiple casualties. Prime Minister Oli announced his resignation amid mounting political pressure and escalating public anger.
