Protests Erupt in Bolivia After Rodrigo Paz Wins Presidency Amid Election Fraud Allegations

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Bolivia’s capital on Monday night to denounce the election of centrist candidate Rodrigo Paz as the country’s new president, alleging voting irregularities and demanding a full audit of the results.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Paz, 58, won Sunday’s presidential runoff with 54.5% of the vote, defeating former right-wing president Jorge Quiroga, who led the country between 2001 and 2002.

Demonstrators chanted slogans calling for transparency and accountability, while opposition leaders announced plans to challenge the results in court.
