Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow is ready to extend the New START treaty with the United States for an additional year after its expiration in February 2026, provided Washington does the same.

The treaty is the last remaining nuclear arms control agreement between the two countries.

Putin stressed that Russia seeks to preserve strategic stability and encourage international dialogue on preventing nuclear proliferation.
