Qatar on Thursday held a state-attended funeral for six people killed in Tuesday’s unprecedented Israeli airstrike on Hamas officials in Doha, with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani among the mourners.
The funeral prayers took place at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque under tight security measures.
The victims included five Palestinians and one Qatari security officer. The latter’s coffin was draped in Qatar’s national flag, while the Palestinians’ coffins were wrapped in Palestinian flags, as shown on Qatar TV’s live broadcast.
Roads around the mosque were closed, with a heavy deployment of Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya), one of whose members was killed in the Israeli strike.
