Palestinian Civil Defense teams on Friday transferred the remains of more than 120 people from a temporary mass grave to an official cemetery east of Gaza City. The victims were killed during what Palestinian authorities have described as a “genocidal campaign” by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.
The recovery operation began early Friday, with Civil Defense crews assisted by members of the Shuheiber family, exhuming bodies buried for months in a makeshift grave on farmland south of Gaza City.
The Israeli army carried out a massacre on November 17, 2023, bombing a house sheltering displaced members of the Maher Shuheiber family in Gaza’s Sabra neighborhood, killing more than 95 Palestinians, while others remained under the rubble.
