Rescue teams in Chile continued on Friday to search for five miners trapped underground after a partial collapse caused by an earthquake, which resulted in one worker’s death and halted operations at the “El Teniente” mine, the world’s largest underground copper mine.
More than 100 people are participating in the risky rescue efforts, according to the mine’s general manager, Andrés Musitich, noting that the incident occurred in the O’Higgins region, about 100 kilometers south of the capital, Santiago.
