Iran executed 1,922 people in 2025 after convictions on charges including drug-related offenses, murder, espionage and rape, marking the highest number of executions recorded in the country over the past decade, a rights report said.
The findings were included in the 2025 Human Rights Violations Report on Iran, published on Friday by the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).
According to the report, 87 percent of those executed were men, 3 percent were women, while the gender of the remaining 10 percent could not be identified, highlighting a sharp increase in the use of capital punishment compared with previous years.
