U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Tuesday that President Donald Trump is likely to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week as part of efforts to broker a peace deal that would also involve Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Speaking to reporters in Israel, Rubio said Trump has held “numerous phone calls with Putin and several meetings with Zelensky, whom he will likely meet again late next week in New York,” during the United Nations General Assembly.

The prospective meeting comes as Washington intensifies diplomatic efforts to explore a settlement to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
