Russia has launched a criminal investigation into Telegram founder Pavel Durov on suspicion of “complicity in supporting activities classified by authorities as terrorist.”
The Kremlin said content circulating on the platform could threaten national security, accusing Telegram’s management of failing to cooperate with authorities.
Reports have suggested the platform was used in activities linked to alleged Ukrainian plans targeting Russian military personnel.
Despite mounting pressure, Moscow has not moved to block the widely used messaging app.
