Russian security authorities said they had foiled planned terrorist attacks targeting Jewish religious sites in the cities of Pyatigorsk and Krasnoyarsk, allegedly orchestrated by supporters of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia.
The Federal Security Service (FSB) said, according to the state news agency TASS, that two suspects from a Central Asian country were arrested in Krasnoyarsk on suspicion of preparing to detonate an explosive device inside a local synagogue.
The agency added that the suspects were acting under instructions from foreign coordinators, and that security operations are continuing to identify other individuals involved in the plot.
