At least two people, including a three-year-old child, were killed and dozens were injured after a Russian airstrike destroyed a five-storey residential building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.

Local authorities confirmed that the bodies of the child and a woman were recovered from under the rubble, noting extensive damage to civilian facilities, a shopping center, and several vehicles.

They reported that 19 people were injured, including an infant, while rescue teams continue searching for missing persons.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the attack as “heinous,” stressing that the shelling continues despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
