Ukrainian officials reported on Saturday, January 24, 2026, that Russia carried out attacks on the country’s two largest cities—Kyiv, the capital, and Kharkiv in the northeast—resulting in one death and several injuries.
Ukrainian authorities stated that the country was on high alert prior to the attacks, warning of missile strikes and drone assaults.
These attacks occurred shortly after the conclusion of the first day of two-day talks in the UAE, involving negotiators from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, aimed at finding a resolution to the ongoing conflict that has lasted nearly four years.
