Moroccan activists launched a massive online campaign under the hashtag #SaharaInMorocco, ahead of the UN Security Council vote on a draft resolution concerning the Moroccan Sahara.

Politicians, ministers, parliamentarians, and journalists joined the campaign, reaffirming their commitment to the country’s territorial unity.

The U.S.-sponsored draft resolution supports Morocco’s autonomy plan as a “realistic and lasting” solution while extending MINURSO’s mandate for another year.

The vote is expected amid close monitoring of the stances of permanent Security Council members.
