French authorities have stripped former President Nicolas Sarkozy of the Legion of Honor after his conviction for corruption and influence peddling was upheld.

The decision was issued by an official decree published in the official gazette, making Sarkozy the second president to have the honor revoked, following Philippe Pétain.
