Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced on Thursday the launch of an emergency international coalition to directly finance the Palestinian Authority, during a press conference on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Bin Farhan said: “I announce the establishment of an emergency international coalition to provide direct funding to the Palestinian Authority, in partnership with several key allies.” He revealed that Saudi Arabia will contribute $90 million to the new initiative.
The Saudi top diplomat added that there is a “clear Arab consensus that Gaza’s fate must be unified with the West Bank under the administration of the Palestinian Authority.”
The announcement comes just two days after U.S. President Donald Trump presented a 21-point plan during a meeting with Arab and Islamic leaders in New York, aimed at ending Israel’s ongoing two-year war in Gaza.
