Saudi Arabia on Sunday announced a package of humanitarian and development projects in Syria, including debris removal in Damascus and its countryside, as well as the rehabilitation of schools, hospitals, and bakeries across the country. The move follows Riyadh’s pledge to invest more than $6.4 billion in Syria.
The initiative was unveiled at an event in Damascus attended by Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, head of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Al-Saleh, according to AFP.
The signed agreement for the “Rehabilitation and Debris Removal Project” covers the clearance of over 75,000 square meters of rubble from roads and public facilities to ease movement for residents in Damascus and surrounding areas.
