Saudi Arabia secured its place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a goalless draw with Iraq on Tuesday at Al-Inmaa Stadium in Jeddah, clinching qualification through the Asian playoff Group B.
The result sends the Saudi national team, known as Al-Akhdar, to the World Cup for the seventh time in its history. It also marks a historic milestone, with seven Arab nations — Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, and Qatar — qualifying for the tournament for the first time ever.
Saudi Arabia becomes the 26th team to book its spot in the 2026 edition, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
This qualification extends Saudi Arabia’s consistent World Cup record, which began in 1994 when the team made its debut and reached the Round of 16 in the United States.
