The United Nations Security Council has called for an immediate cessation of fighting in Sudan, condemning attacks by the Rapid Support Forces against civilians, infrastructure, and humanitarian workers.
The Council expressed deep concern over escalating violence in Darfur and Kordofan, warning of a growing risk of famine and stressing that targeting humanitarian facilities could amount to war crimes.
It reaffirmed its support for Sudan’s sovereignty and rejected any parallel authority.
