Seychelles Presidential Election Heads to Runoff After No Clear Winner

The Seychelles Electoral Commission announced a presidential runoff after no candidate secured more than 50% of the vote.

Incumbent President Wavel Ramkalawan won 46.4%, while opposition candidate Patrick Herminie secured 48.8%. No date has been set for the runoff yet.

The election unfolds amid fierce political competition and mounting economic challenges facing the small Indian Ocean nation.
