South Korean President Lee Jae-myung expressed “regret” to North Korea following a drone incursion incident, emphasizing Seoul’s commitment to preventing similar occurrences in the future.
Speaking during a cabinet meeting on Monday, April 6, 2026, Lee said that “a South Korean individual launched the drone without government authorization.”
He added, “Although this was not the intention of our government, we express our regret to North Korea over the unnecessary military tension caused by the irresponsible and reckless actions of certain individuals.”
The development comes after South Korean prosecutors last week charged three individuals with launching drones into North Korean territory between September last year and January 2026.
