Spain-Israeli Occupation Diplomatic Row Escalates Over Gaza Measures

Madrid recalled its ambassador to the Israeli occupation for consultations on Monday, after Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar accused Spain of “anti-Semitism,” in response to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s announcement of nine measures to stop the “genocide in Gaza.”

These included banning arms sales to the occupation and preventing the use of Spanish ports for transporting fuel to its army.

Sa’ar attacked Sánchez’s government, calling it “corrupt,” and announced a ban on Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Díaz from entering the occupied Palestinian territories.

Madrid rejected the accusations as “false,” affirming its commitment to its stance against the war, which has left more than 64,455 martyrs and 162,776 injured, most of them women and children, since October 2023.
