Strong earthquake hits the Philippines with no tsunami threat

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines on Tuesday at a depth of about 11 kilometers.

No casualties or major damage have been reported so far, while emergency teams have launched inspection operations.

The national seismology agency warned of possible aftershocks.
