Sudanese Prime Minister Kamel Idris announced the government’s return to the capital Khartoum, ending nearly three years of operating from Port Sudan due to the ongoing war.
Idris said the move sends a message of reassurance to citizens and reinforces the government’s commitment to rebuilding state institutions despite security and humanitarian challenges.
He vowed to rehabilitate essential services, including health, education, electricity, and water, stressing that citizens’ needs will remain a top priority.
The decision comes amid a devastating conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces that has displaced millions and caused the collapse of public services.
