At least 12 people were killed and others injured on Tuesday in a suicide bombing near a courthouse complex in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the bomber attempted to enter the courthouse on foot before detonating himself near a police vehicle.

Authorities also foiled another attempt by a group from Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan to kidnap students from a military college in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, after clashes left several attackers dead.
