Syria and Lebanon are set to sign an agreement on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, allowing for the transfer of convicted prisoners from the country where the sentence was issued to the country of the prisoner’s nationality, Lebanon’s prime minister’s office said.
In a statement issued on Thursday and reported by Syria’s state news agency SANA, the office said the signing ceremony would take place in Beirut.
The ceremony will be attended by Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri and Justice Minister Adel Nassar, alongside an official Syrian delegation headed by Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais, the statement said.
