Syria’s Foreign Ministry has dismissed reports claiming that Damascus and Israel are preparing to sign a security agreement next month.

In a statement carried by the ministry’s Media Coordination and Communication Office, officials described the claims of an accord expected on September 25 as “unfounded.”

The denial came after several media outlets, citing “senior Syrian sources,” reported that Syria and Israel were set to conclude a U.S.-brokered security deal.
