A massive explosion shook the town of Kafr Takharim in northwestern Idlib countryside, causing injuries and major material damage, according to local sources.

The causes of the explosion remain unclear, while Syrian media reported that the sound was heard across the town.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights suggested that the incident resulted from the explosion of an ammunition depot belonging to one of the armed factions inside a populated area.

No official body has issued a statement yet clarifying the circumstances of the explosion.
