Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa inaugurated the Syrian Development Fund on Friday, aiming to mobilize national efforts and attract international support for the country’s post-war reconstruction.
In his speech, Al-Sharaa described the fund as a strategic tool reflecting Syrians’ determination to rebuild and rely on themselves, while remaining open to regional and international partnerships.
Fund director Safwat Raslan announced that initial donations had already surpassed $60 million within the first two hours of its launch, pledging transparent mechanisms to finance infrastructure and essential services projects.
The initiative is expected to become a cornerstone in Syria’s reconstruction drive, helping restore devastated cities and strengthen public services.
