Syria: October 5 set for the first parliamentary elections since the fall of the Assad regime

Syria’s Higher Election Committee announced Sunday that the first parliamentary elections since the formation of the new administration will be held on October 5.

The elections will be held across most provinces, excluding Sweida, Raqqa, and Hasakah, due to security concerns.

Committee head Mohammad Taha al-Ahmad said voting in these provinces would be possible once stability and voter safety are ensured.
