Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa met with U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Syria’s state news agency (SANA), the meeting took place during a reception hosted by Trump and attended by First Lady Melania Trump. The agency did not specify whether the encounter included bilateral talks.

This marks the second meeting between Al-Sharaa and Trump, following their first encounter in Riyadh in May.

Al-Sharaa arrived in New York on Sunday with several ministers, becoming the first Syrian president to participate in the UN General Assembly since 1967.
