The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban administration in Kabul announced a prisoner exchange agreement with US officials following rare talks.

The ministry stated that its foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with former US envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad and Adam Boehler, the Trump administration’s envoy for hostage affairs.

This visit comes after a similar meeting in March 2025 that led to the release of an American citizen held in Afghanistan.
