Iran officially announced on October 18 the expiration of the 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers, declaring that UN Resolution 2231 has “completely lost its legal effect.”
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran is no longer bound by any nuclear restrictions but remains open to dialogue.
The resolution had lifted sanctions in exchange for limits on Iran’s nuclear program for ten years, which ended this week, marking the start of a new phase of tension with the West.
