Clashes intensified on Tuesday between Cambodia and Thailand along their disputed border, forcing the evacuation of 438,000 civilians across five Thai provinces, in addition to moving hundreds of thousands to safe areas inside Cambodia.
The clashes resumed despite a previous ceasefire, raising the death toll to 10 within a week. Former Cambodian leader Hun Sen said his country had adhered to the ceasefire to allow the evacuation of civilians before responding to attacks.
Both sides exchanged accusations of responsibility for the escalation, while Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said the army was acting to protect sovereignty and border residents.
