The Knesset Votes in Principle to Dissolve Itself Amid Crisis of Haredi Recruitment

The Knesset of the Israeli occupation is set to vote on Wednesday in principle to dissolve itself, at the request of the opposition, in a move that may receive support from partners of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the hardline ruling coalition.

The decision could garner backing from within the ruling coalition after the Supreme Court annulled in 2024 the exemption of Orthodox Jews, or the Haredi community, from military service, which sparked outrage among the hardline religious parties.
