Tokyo summoned China’s ambassador on Sunday following allegations that Chinese warplanes had locked their radars onto Japanese fighter jets over international waters near Okinawa.

Japanese authorities said two J-15 aircraft from the carrier Liaoning locked their radars on Japanese jets on Saturday, causing no damage. The incident comes amid rising tensions between the two countries following comments by Japan’s prime minister regarding Taiwan.
