U.S. President Donald Trump departed for Malaysia on Friday, kicking off a five-day Asian tour that will also take him to Japan, South Korea, and China.
Before leaving the White House in Washington, Trump expressed hope for a “good” meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, stating that discussions would cover “all aspects of trade and tariffs, as well as issues related to Taiwan.”
“We have a lot to discuss with President Xi, and he has a lot to discuss with us as well. I believe the meeting will go very well,” Trump added.
On Sunday, Trump is scheduled to attend a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur marking the signing of an agreement ending the border dispute between Cambodia and Thailand, and he will meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, marking the first official stop of his Asian tour.
