The comments came on the eve of his scheduled meeting in Washington with Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Media outlets speculated the remarks may be tied to Gaza and the possibility of pushing for a new political arrangement.

Netanyahu, meanwhile, adjusted his agenda on Sunday and held meetings with his security cabinet in preparation for the talks.
