U.S. President Donald Trump announced that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, would visit Russia on Wednesday or Thursday to discuss the war in Ukraine, threatening to impose “very high tariffs” if Moscow does not agree to a ceasefire.
Trump noted that two nuclear submarines have been deployed in the region.
For his part, Zelensky announced an agreement for the exchange of 1,200 prisoners between Moscow and Kyiv, while the Kremlin called for “maximum caution” regarding nuclear statements.
