Trump signs defense authorization act with record military budget and repeal of Caesar Act on Syria

US President Donald Trump has signed the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes the largest annual military budget in US history, exceeding $900 billion, as well as the repeal of the Caesar Act that imposed sanctions on Syria since 2019.

The bill was signed after receiving congressional approval, away from media cameras, contrary to earlier announcements.

The law outlines US defense priorities and requires the White House to submit periodic reports to Congress over four years, confirming that the Syrian government continues to combat terrorism and drug trafficking, protect minorities, and pursue peace with neighboring countries.
