The White House announced Thursday that U.S. President Donald Trump will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea next Thursday (October 30), marking their first in-person meeting since trade tensions escalated between the two nations.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said, “On Thursday morning (local time), President Trump will hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping,” according to AFP.
Earlier this week, Trump said he plans to visit China early next year, expressing optimism about reaching a trade agreement with Xi during their upcoming meeting in South Korea despite ongoing disputes over tariffs.
