U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday urged Iran to quickly come to the negotiating table “before it is too late,” warning that any potential future attack would be “worse” than the one carried out by the United States in June.
Trump reiterated that an additional U.S. naval fleet was being sent to the Middle East, saying in a post on his Truth Social platform that “a massive naval fleet is heading toward Iran, moving very fast, with strength, enthusiasm and a clear purpose.”
He said the fleet, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, was “larger than the one sent to Venezuela,” adding that it was “ready, willing and capable of carrying out its mission at full speed, and with force if necessary.”
There was no immediate comment from Iranian officials on Trump’s remarks or the U.S. military deployment.
