Authorities in French Polynesia have warned of waves that could reach 4 meters in the Marquesas Islands following an 8.8-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Russia.

The quake triggered tsunami waves in several countries, with no fatalities reported.

Evacuation orders were issued in coastal areas, particularly in Chile and Colombia, despite the danger subsiding in Russia, Japan, and the United States.
