Tunisia Demands Urgent Probe into Killing of Its Citizen by French Police

Tunisia summoned France’s chargé d’affaires in Tunis on Wednesday to formally protest the killing of Tunisian citizen Abdelkader Dhibi by French police in Marseille, southern France.

According to a statement from the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the move was ordered by President Kais Saied. The State Secretary at the ministry delivered a strong protest to the French diplomat, urging an urgent and firm investigation to establish accountability.

The statement stressed that Tunisia considers the incident an “unjustified killing” and expects French authorities to act with seriousness and speed in handling the case.

The shooting, which occurred on September 2, has sparked widespread reactions in Tunisia, with official and popular calls demanding transparency and accountability from the French side.
