Tunisia Detains Foreigner Over Attack on Gaza-Bound Freedom Flotilla Ship

Tunisian authorities have issued a prison order against a foreign national suspected of attacking a ship from the Freedom Flotilla, a mission aimed at breaking the blockade of Gaza.

According to media sources, the First Investigating Judge at the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Unit issued the detention order for the suspect, whose identity and nationality have not been disclosed. The incident occurred while the flotilla ship was docked at Sidi Bou Said port, north of the capital.

Security forces successfully apprehended the foreign national, who remains in custody under Tunisia’s anti-terrorism legislation.

Earlier this month, two flotilla vessels docked at Sidi Bou Said were targeted in drone attacks that caused only minor material damage. The Tunisian Interior Ministry described the attack on one of the ships as premeditated.
