The criminal chamber specializing in terrorism cases at the Tunis primary court on Monday sentenced former minister Mondher Znaidi in absentia to 19 years in prison, with immediate enforcement.

The public prosecutor at the Judicial Pole for Combating Terrorism had authorized an investigation against Znaidi on charges including forming a terrorist group, incitement to join it, conspiracy against internal state security, and assaults aimed at changing the state structure, among other charges, according to a statement by the Pole’s official spokesperson in September 2024.
