Tunisian world champion Ahmed Jaouadi delivered a strong performance on Tuesday, claiming first place in the 800-meter freestyle heats at the World Swimming Championships in Singapore.
Jaouadi, the reigning world champion in the 1500m freestyle (short course), clocked a time of 7:41.58, outpacing Australian swimmer Sam Short, who had secured silver in the 400m freestyle earlier on Sunday.

The final of the 800m freestyle is scheduled for Wednesday at 12:02 p.m. local time in Tunisia.
Jaouadi is also set to compete in the 1500m freestyle event on August 2, where he aims to further solidify his standing on the global swimming stage.
